There are two kinds of membership of the Association:

  • Affiliated membership; and
  • Full membership.

Affiliated membership

This membership  is available to :

  • all foster, kinship and respite carers who hold a General Parental Authority or a Specific Parental Authority under the ACT’s Children and Young People Act 2008
  • kinship or relative carers who look after children or young people under other arrangements (eg Family Law court orders, other State or Territory child protection legislation); and
  • respite carers who look after children and young people in or at risk of going into care.

All these carers and their families are able to use the support and advocacy services provided by the Association, as well as using the Association’s resource library, attending training, participating in activities and receiving support to attend conferences relevant to their carer role.

Carers can also join the Association's email list, which will give them early notice of forthcoming events and training opportunities.  To get onto the email list, please notify  the Secretary on  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Full membership

All people who are or have been a foster, kinship or respite carer are eligible to apply for full membership of the Association.  To do this, they need to fill in the membership application form on-line or print out the form here (PDF format) and email it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
